This book is actually a prequel to the book "The Conjurer," but I got to read this book first, and I would recommend that you also start the series from this book. In this book, the paths of three boys intersect with each other at an unlikely junction. Milkalla gets an opportunity to become the Conjurer's assistant, but Gobi, the talented yet jealous one, interferes in between and tries his best to stop Milkalla from becoming the Conjurer's assistant.
